MONTANO -- Mr. Eugenio C. Montano, 85, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 22, 2003 was born in San Mateo, NM in 1918 where he developed his interest in cattle ranching, a vocation he enjoyed most of his life and until recently assisted his son, Edward with his own cattle business. He was employed and retired from Sandia Corporation where he held a sensitive position within the transportation division. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII with tours of duty in India, Burma, and China Theater. He was attached to the Air Transport Command and served from 1941 until 1946. Eugenio had an excellent military and civilian career, but his love for the outdoors and in particular, being an "All American Cowboy" was his passion. He will be missed by his family and friends. Mr. Montano is survived by his beloved wife of sixty years, Lisa; two daughters, Cecelia Montoya and husband, Gilbert, Margie Cifuni; two sons, Jake Montano and wife, Jennifer, and Edward Montano; one sister, Esther Benner and husband, Lester; four grandchildren, James and wife, Helanda, Evan, Mario and Dominic; two great-grandchildren, Demar and Pierre; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Montano was a member of the El Buen Samaritano Untied Methodist Church. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. by Pastor Jesus Bermudez and Deacon Max Cisneros. Final visitation will be Thursday afternoon from 12:00 noon until 12:30 p.m. at the El Buen Samaritano United Methodist Church, 700 Granite NW with a Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m. by Deacon Max Cisneros. Committal Service will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be James Crespin, Evan Montoya, Dominic Montano, Mario Montano, Benny Gonzales and Gilbert Montoya.
