MACE -- Rose Mary (Drake) Mace, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1939, died Saturday, September 13, 2003. She is survived by her husband, James of 53 years; sons, James Jr. and wife Susan from Bella Vista, AR, Greg and wife Peggy, and Edward and wife Susie all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Carla, Chrysta, Kelley, and Madison; brother, Leroy Drake and wife Amalia of Albuquerque; sister, Betty Hupp and husband Bill of Roseville, CA; brother Howard Drake and wife Phyllis of Santee, CA; sister, Margaret Brabson and husband Ed of Alamogordo; sister-in-law, Maclovia Drake of Albuquerque; aunt, Clara May (Drake) Vanzuro of Albuquerque; and many nieces, nephews and family friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul and parents, Carl and Ruth (Ernest) Drake. Rose was born in Wichita, KS. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Albuquerque in 1948. Upon marrying James in 1950, she accompanied him on his many assignments in the USAF. Rose was active on each base. After James' retirement in Albuquerque, Rose worked at Dillard's as a credit manager. She loved to bowl and was an active skier. Rose served as president of the Coronado Ski Club. She was an active member of Sangre de Christo Catholic Community. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 17, 2003, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd Chapel, with Deacon Lloyd Martinez, reciting. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, September 18, 2003, 10:30 a.m., at Sangre de Christo Catholic Community, 8901 Candelaria NE, with Father Anthony Bolman, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery, at, 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be her three sons, James Jr., Greg, and Edward, and two grandsons, Kelley, and Alex. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 6:00 p.m. until time of rosary. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
