Gabaldon -- Carmen Gabaldon, age 78, and a resident of Albuquerque for 43 years, died peacefully with her entire family on Friday, and had a beautiful passing after a long illness. She is survived by her spouse, Albert Gabaldon of Albuquerque; one daughter, Bea Ann Garcia and husband, Lawrence of Albuquerque; three sons, Al Gabaldon Jr. and wife, Pamela of Sedona, AZ, Eddie Gabaldon and wife, Berlinda of Albuquerque, Rick Gabaldon and wife, Lori of Albuquerque; two sisters, Celina Gabaldon and husband, Felix of Albuquerque, Theresa Maestas of Albuquerque; one brother, J.R. Sanchez of Belen, NM; nine (9) grandchildren; and one (1) great-granddaughter. Carmen was the owner and operator of the Bird of Paradise Restaurant and Lounge. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Carmen Gabaldon will lie in state for visitation on Sunday, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited Sunday, August 16, 7:00 p.m., at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 17, 1998, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Sanchez, Charlie Sanchez, Tom Sanchez, Louis Sanchez, Frank Sanchez and James Gabaldon. Honorary pallbearers will be Manuel Chavez, Louis Pena, Bill Hicks and Fred Montoya. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, P.O. Box 8766, Albuquerque, NM 87198-8777. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, in charge of arrangements.
