Hopkins -- Bessie E. Hopkins, 79, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, May 9, 1998. She is survived by daughter, Patricia Shattuck and husband, Samuel; sons, Michael Holt and James Holt, all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Akin, Louise Whitney and husband, Lt. Col. Henry Whitney, retired of Albuquerque, Jean Trosper and husband, Charles of Wichita, KS and Laura Dorn and husband, Gary of Waukegan, IL; brothers, Daniel Booth and wife, Beulah of Farmington, NM and Carl Booth, Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hopkins graduated from Albuquerque High School and attended Albuquerque Business College. She worked as a secretary at Albuquerque High School. She retired from the Albuquerque Public School System in 1984. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be John Shattuck, John Carter, Sean Holt and Jeffery Holt. Friends may visit French Mortuary on Monday, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
