Otero -- Meliton J. Otero, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, April 6, 1998. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Georgia; daughter, Kathy Otero of Tyler, TX, Meliton R."Dick" Otero of Aztec, NM, Michael J. Otero of Denver, CO, Patrick, Tony, David and Ted of Albuquerque; brother, George Otero; sister, Ann Bunch; and sister-in-law, Betty Otero of Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and services will be held Thursday, April 9, 1998, 10:00 a.m., at St. Therese Church on 4th and Mildred NW. A reception will follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mel Otero Memorial Fund. It is set up to help recruit and recognize outstanding basketball officials. Donations can be made in care of New Mexico Activities Association, 6600 Palomas NE, Albuquerque, NM 87107.
