Evans -- Lowell Keith Evans, 68, a resident of Elephant Butte, passed away Thursday, July 16, 1998, in Albuquerque, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born, Tuesday, June 17, 1930, in Chattsworth, IA, to Frank and Amanda Evans. Mr. Evans proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954. He married Darlene Sealey on May 18, 1958, in Price, UT, and began their life together in Albuquerque. In 1971, Lowell began his own business, Evans Plumbing and Heating, doing most of his work at Sandia and Kirtland Air Force Bases. He retired in 1985 and built a home at Elephant Butte Lake where he could fish, and tinker in his wood shop. He learned the art of making pottery, and enjoyed traveling around the country, he spent the last thirteen years enjoying his retirement while wintering in Arizona. Lowell was a hard worker who enjoyed his work. Anything he tried, he did well. He is survived by his wife, Darlene; son, Douglas, and wife, Lynette; grandsons, Deric, and Kyle; daughter, Kathy and husband, J.R. McDaniel, all of Albuquerque; sister, Neva Pelowski and husband, Vern of Lincoln, NE; brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; aunts, Bea Parry, Helen Evans; and uncle, Curt Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Milo Evans. Mr. Evans was a member of Masonic Lodge #6 in Albuquerque, the Ballut Abyad Shrine, a charter member of B.P.O.E. in T or C, and V.F.W. #1987 in Elephant Butte, and Pipefitters and Plumbers Union Local #412. Lowell was very proud of his family, he loved to have them around wherever he was. He enjoyed bragging about the family he loved. For everyone who knew him, there was only one Lowell Evans. Services will be held Monday, July 20, 1998, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, with Rev. Roland McGregor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Honorary pallbearers will be Deric Evans, Kyle Evans, Vern Pelowski, Lamar Jones, Bob Radakovich, Marvin Sealey, and Ray Bean. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Lowell's memory to the American Cancer Society, Attn.
