Shepherd -- Annie Mae Trexler Shepherd, 69, a homemaker, died Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. The memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Churchland Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Steve Martin. Private inurnment will be held in the church cemetery. Mrs. Shepherd was born July 20, 1929, in Rowan County to Cletus Adam Trexler, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Earnhardt Trexler. She was an office worker, teacher, and homemaker. She was a 1947 graduate of Granite Quarry High School and 1949 graduate of Salisbury Business College. At Churchland Baptist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, Acteens leader, Young Women's Auxiliary leader, and Tape Ministry Coordinator. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Hugh Harold Shepherd on August 17, 1997. Surviving are two sons, Luke H. Shepherd and wife, Jan, of Greensboro, and Tobin H. Shepherd and wife, Beverley, of Lexington; two daughters, Leila A. Shepherd and husband, Paul Stennett, of Burlington, and Ellen R. Shepherd of Albuquerque, NM; step-mother, Alma Shives Trexler of Salisbury; six grandchildren, Leslie Shepherd, Lorie Shepherd, Elana Stennett, Kirk Stennett, Noah Shepherd, and Harry Shepherd; sisters, Margaret Livengood and Faye Downum of Salisbury; and brothers, James T. Trexler, Sr. and Roy J. Trexler of Salisbury, and Ralph (Buddy) Trexler, Sr. of Rockwell. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Thursday night at Churchland Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the residence on Swicegood Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Churchland Baptist Church Building Fund, 7516 S. N.C. Highway 150, Lexington 27295; or the Trexler Shepherd Trust of the N.C. Baptist Foundation, 201 Convention Drive, Cary 27511. Piedmont Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
