Mascarenas -- Anita Smith Mascarenas, 83, an Albuquerque resident since 1952, died Monday, October 11, 1999. Mrs. Mascarenas was born on March 10, 1916 in Chamita, New Mexico to Juan and Magdalena Smith. She was raised in Penasco, New Mexico. She married David Mascarenas in 1932 and he preceded her in death. She worked as the Post Mistress and as the finance officer of the Northern Railroad Office for the Santa Fe/Topeka Railroad Line in Penasco. She later worked as a school teacher with the Santa Fe School District. After she moved to Albuquerque she worked as a sales lady for Fedway, Sears and Dillard's department stores. She was an active member of the American Business Woman's Association and loved being around people. Mrs. Mascarenas is survived by her sons, Henry D. Mascarenas and wife, Isabel, Richard L. Mascarenas, Arthur L. Mascarenas and wife, Flor, all of Albuquerque, Wilbert P. Mascarenas and wife, Louella of Cerritos, CA, and John E. Mascarenas and wife, Carmelita of Campbellsville, KY; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick and Joseph (Little Joe) Mascarenas; and a daughter, Patricia (Lulu). She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all of her family. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1999, at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, October 16, 1999, at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee, with Father Michael Cimino, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery in Santa Fe. Pallbearers will include her grandchildren, Virginia Hundley, David Mascarenas, Michael Mascarenas-Cagley, Peter Mascarenas, Nathan Mascarenas, Daniel Mascarenas, Matthew Mascarenas, John R. Mascarenas and Robert Caffee, Ruby Vallejos, Rachel Fox, Dolores Lopez, Genevieve Sharp, Patricia Templeton, Christina Mascarenas, Madelyn Mascarenas, Lisa Cagley and Kenneth Cagley.
