Chavez -- George M. Chavez, 88, beloved brother and uncle, was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 4, 1999. Mr. Chavez was a resident of Bernalillo, he was born on August 4, 1910 in Bernalillo; he was employed for 43 years at New Mexico Timber Co.; he was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and a dear friend to all. He was recently preceded in death by two sisters, Jesusita Wiggins and Margaret Torrez; also preceded in death are his parents, Juan Chavez and Adelaida Mondragon; three brothers, Jose Salomon Chavez, Adolfo Chavez, Jose Conrado Chavez; three sisters, Guadalupe Chavez, Beatriz Chavez and Maria Jesusita Chavez. Mr. Chavez is survived by four nephews, Conrad Torrez, Fred Torrez and wife, Grace, Johnny Torrez and wife, Maria Garcia, Anthony Torrez and wife, Bertha; one niece, Adelaida Valdez and Greg Pena; four grandnephews; six grandnieces; 15 great-grandnephews and nieces; and five great-great-grandnephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church this morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Pena, Ernest Lucero, Pete Santistevan, Joe Austin Jr., Dino Farfan, and Benny Trujillo; honorary pallbearers will be Alfredo Valdez, Flavio Trujillo, Emmanuel Lovato, Ignacio Farfan and Edward Estrada. Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 4th St. NW, Norbert Baldonado Jr.
