Martinez -- Eddie G. Martinez, 85, beloved and devoted father, grandfather and brother, was called home to be with the Lord Sunday, February 28, 1999. Mr. Martinez was born in Madrid, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque; he was a prominent businessman in the Barelas area and the owner and operator of E.B Variety Store for 48 years; a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Martinez. He is survived by his loving children, Michael D. Martinez, Edward B. Martinez and wife, Sally, David F. Martinez and wife, Yolanda, Patrick J. Martinez and wife, Agnes, Christopher Martinez and wife, Joyce, Tim Martinez and wife, Pricilla, his daughter, Victoria Rodgers and husband, Clarence, all of Albuquerque; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Jimmy Martinez of Santa Fe, David Martinez of Albuquerque and Richard of Los Lunas; one sister, Celia Martinez of Santa Fe. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held today from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Iron, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the All Faith's Receiving Home, 3001 Trellis NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave, SW. 243-5222.
