Sais -- Silverio Sais, three days shy of his 100th birthday and a lifetime resident of Los Lentes, NM, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday August 28, 1999. He was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Silverio was born on August 31, 1899, the son of Jose Pasqual and Aurelia Jaramillo Sais. He was a well-known farmer in the Los Lunas area and was known for his quality fruit and vegetables he sold from his farm. He was a strong activist in the pursuit of education for children. Silverio was one of the few people who had a vehicle in the community of Los Lentes and he converted his farm truck to transport children from the community to school in Los Lunas. He served on the Los Lunas Consolidated School Board for 14 years and was a member of the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Board for 18 years. During World War II he was a member of the Selective Service System for Valencia County and was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by President Harry S. Truman. Silverio also served as Precinct Chairman for his district for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Sichler Sais and his son John E. Sais. Silverio is survived by his loving children, Katherine Sais Luna, Mary Lou Tarleton and her husband, Thomas A. of Taos, NM, James R. Sais and his wife, Susan of Albuquerque, NM; daughter-in-law, Pat Freeman Sais of Salinas, CA; 12 grandchildren, Jean Jiron and her husband, Mike of Isleta; Charles Luna and his wife, Karyl of Aurora, CO; Jeffrey Sais and his wife, Becky of Santa Maria, CA; Lori Schvaneveldt and her husband, Kent of Gilbert, AZ; Scott Sais and his wife, Dolores of Laredo, TX; Jerry Sais of Lemore, CA; Marsha Green and her husband, Brent of King City, CA; Kathleen Tarleton Lerner and her husband, Frank of Albuquerque, Thomas (Tom) Tarleton and his wife, Michelle, of Santa Fe; Todd Sais of Albuquerque; Kimberly Sais of Alexandria, VA; and John Sais a student at NMSU; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sara Sais Valenzuela and Stella Phillips of Los Lunas. Silverio is also survived by many extended family and friends. A Rosary will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the San Clement Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the San Clemente Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will b e Todd Sais, Bryan Jiron, Jack Tarleton, Michael Lerner, Mike Jiron, Frank Lerner, and Charles Luna. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the San Clemente Catholic Church building fund in Los Lunas or to the charity of your choice. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N.
