Schlick -- Monica N. Schlick, 78, died September 5, 1999, at home, after a long battle with kidney disease. She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Schlick; son, Albert, both of whom she will be joining at Arlington National Cemetery, VA; and granddaughter, Mariah Stockdale. Monica is survived by her son, John J. Schlick and wife, Stephanie, of Washington, D.C. and daughter Monica Stockdale and husband, Grant; grandchildren, Andrea (13) and Ian (10), with whom she resided during the last few years. She is also survived by her sister, Mary R. Northrop, of Richmond, VA. Monica moved to Albuquerque 16 years ago following retirement from National Credit Union Administration, where she had been a Financial Examiner. Until her illness progressed, Monica was an active member of Mensa, various Knitting guilds, and the St. John's Thrift Shop. She was a great enthusiast and supporter of the performing arts. Additionally, she had been active in literacy programs, and tutoring, and other volunteer activities at her grandchildren's schools. Monica was a special woman, with the amazing ability to encourage others her entire life. A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW, 4th and Silver, Monday, September 13, 1999 at 2:00 p.m., Officiated by Canon R. McIntyre. A reception will follow at the Cathedral, Anna Kaseman Hall.
