Brandenburg -- Margarette M. Brandenburg, 74, a resident of Rio Rancho for 13 years, died September 5, 1999. A beloved wife and devoted mother, grandmother and sister went to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday. She is survived by her husband, Jack, of 52 years; her son, Jack W. Brandenburg II of Sanford, FL; her daughter, Susan McCord and husband, Jim of Plano, TX; two grandsons, Matthew McCord and Bryan McCord; sisters, Mary Adkins and husband, Bill of Elephant Butte, NM and Patty Burchfield and husband, Noel of Conway, MO. She is also survived by her aunt, Thelma Wrye and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; and a host of friends. Margarette (Marge) was born in Carrizozo, NM. Upon graduation from Carrizozo High School, she was appointed Deputy County Clerk of Lincoln County. During WWII, she supported the war effort by serving with the Selective Service Department. Her career in US Civil Service continued with tours of duty at Roswell AFB, Sandia Base, with the US Coast Guard in Hawaii as an Aircraft Flight Controller, with the FAA, and with NASA at Cape Kennedy, where she was responsible for the operations manual for the Gemini series of space launches. She was active in the Esplanade Home Owners Association, where she served as treasurer for three years. During her retirement years she found great joy in oil painting. Marge was well loved for her great generosity, kind heart, and hard work. Cremation has taken place. No traditional Memorial service will be held per Marge's request. Marge wished that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2015 Wyoming Blvd., Suite A, Albuquerque, NM 87112.
