Sluga -- Joseph L. Sluga, 87, born in Sugarite, NM, and a resident of Albuquerque for 51 years, died Monday, October 4, 1999. He is survived by his sons, Donald L. Sluga and wife, Carolyn of Windsor, CO and Harold Sluga and wife, Kay of Espanola; brother, Frank Sluga of California; sister, Mary McKnight of Roswell; grandchildren, Shane Sluga and wife, Gena of Phoenix, AZ, Ronney Sluga and wife, Karen of Rio Rancho, and Tambra Nash and husband, John of Albuquerque; and great-grandchildren, Megan Sluga, Allison Sluga, Jeff Nash, and John Nash. Mr. Sluga was very knowledgable about northern New Mexico history and Indian Arts. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Cimmaron, NM Masonic Lodge, Elks Lodge in Albuquerque, and a 75 year member of the S.N.P.J. Services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University NE, with Rev. Larry Castillo-Wilson officiating. Eulogy will be presented by Ed Marinsek. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Shane Sluga, Ronney Sluga, John Nash, Clint Atwood, Gary Atwood and Mark Brozovich. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Thursday, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.
