Bark -- Seth C. Bark Jr., age 85, died Tuesday, September 21, 1999. He is survived by his many friends and by the patients he ministered to as a volunteer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Elizabeth Bark of Saginaw, Michigan, which was also his birthplace. Mr. Bark served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1941 to 1945 and was the recipient of various decorations, including the Good Conduct Medal. In his early working years, he was office manager for several attorneys in Beverly Hills, California and knew many actors in the motion picture industry. He was later employed from the late sixties to 1984 by both First National and First Interstate Banks. The high point of Seth's life after retirement was volunteering for the UNM Hospital Cancer Research and Treatment Center, where he logged over 10,000 hours in Patient Services. Mr. Bark was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where he was active in the Holy Name Society. He was also a past board member of the New Mexico Symphony, Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and served on the Board of the Handicapped under Mayor Rusk. He will be remembered for his cheerful demeanor and helpful attitude to anyone needing counsel or assistance. Rosary will be recited Monday, September 27, 1999, 7:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 28, 1999, 9:30 a.m., at St. Charles Church with Father Bob Chabot as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to the Cancer Treatment and Research Center at the University of New Mexico, 900 Camino de Salud NE, Albuquerque 87131.
