She is survived by her mother; and her sister, Susan Jones, both of Albuquerque; one brother, David R. She spent several years working as an archaeologist, participating in a wide range of digs sponsored by the University and by National Geographic Society as well as privately managed projects. Her work took her to sites throughout New Mexico and other western states and also had her investigating colonial sites in the Northeast, including New York City. She moved to New Jersey in 1977 and worked for Online Software until returning to Albuquerque in 1991 to help caring for her ailing father, who died in 1992. Since returning here, she had been employed by MCI Business Development. Ms. Jones loved to travel and was an avid outdoorswoman. One of her favorite activities was camping with her sister and their friends throughout New Mexico. She was loved by a wide-ranging group of friends, some of whom traveled from as far away as Washington State, Florida, New Jersey, Canada, and England in recent months to be with her during her final illness. She will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial donations may be made to People Living Through Cancer, 323 Eighth St. NW, Albuquerque 87102.
