Leyba -- Guadalupe"Pita" Leyba, 91, lived in Leyba for most of her life and had been a resident of Albuquerque for the past two years, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Josie L. Chavez and husband, Anselmo of Albuquerque, Magdalena Chavez and husband, Manuel of Moriarty, and Sara L. Hurtado and husband, Elias of Holman, NM; sons, Tony J. Leyba and wife, Connie of San Antonio, TX and Bernie Leyba and wife, Mary of Santa Fe; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandsons; and brothers, Antonio Tapia and wife, Rita, and Don Tapia and wife, Lucy, all of Albuquerque. Mrs. Leyba was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Tranquilino D. Leyba; grandson, Samuel Hurtado; sisters, Rose Dominguez and Louisa Dean; and brothers, Cruz Tapia and Ralph Tapia. Rosary will be recited Friday, 4:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, with Deacon Joe Quintana reciting. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Frank Leyba, Tearance Pacheco, Ernie Lucero, Augustine Chavez, Raul Hurtado and Elias Hurtado IV. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
