Bowen -- Max L. Bowen, 89, a New Mexico resident since 1946, died Monday, January 11, 1999. Mr. Bowen was born on September 10, 1909 in Grove, Kansas. He is survived by his wife, Velma Bowen of Albuquerque; daughters, Kay Howton and husband, Bill of Kerrville, TX and LaVerne Kane and husband, Frank, Jr. of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; a brother; and two grandsons. Mr. Bowen was a 35 year member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #1517 where he held the Pilgrim Degree. He retired from Navajo Truck lines in 1959 and later was a licensed general contractor. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, January 15, 1999 at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, 2121 Edith Blvd. NE. Private interment of the cremains will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
