Chavez -- Norma A. (Luchetti), 79, died June 17, 1999. Born in Raton, NM, January 26, 1920 to Michael and Magdelena Luchetti, who originally relocated from Italy to settle in Los Padillas. There the family started their own winery and thriving farm. Norma was married to Mel N. Chavez, who was an employee of the Civil Service Department until his death on September 8, 1994. Norma retired after many years from the County Clerks Office in the 1970's. Norma was a very warm, caring and loving woman. She helped raise many children throughout her life and treated them all equally and as her own. She was always willing to take care of her"children" at any given time. Norma (grandma) always wanted her family around her, even in her last moments of life. Preceded in death by her son, Mel A. Chavez-April 1, 1999; brothers, Devilio, Alex, and Pete Luchetti. Survivors include her daughter, Frances Chavez-Maldonado and husband, Tony; siblings, Marion Bordenave, Olympia Raines, Orlindo Luchetti, and Minerva Vescovi. She also leaved behind four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW on Saturday, June 19, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at a later time.
