Jones -- Quentin Jones, 79, a resident of Belen and formerly of Los Alamos, passed away on February 3, 1999 in an Albuquerque hospital after a long illness. He was the oldest son of Jesse B. and Neva (Phillips) Jones. Quentin was raised in Fort Worth, TX, where he resided until entering the United States Calvary in 1940. He served in World War II in the Pacific Theater. Quentin was honorably discharged in 1945. He resided in Los Alamos from 1949 until 1986, where he was employed by the Atomic Energy Commission and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Quentin spent his final years of retirement in Belen. Quentin was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Ava Nell in 1985. He is survived by his three children, Thomas Q. Jones and his wife, Betty of Horseshoe Bend, TX, J. Blair Jones and his wife, Jeanne; daughter, Sherry W. Jones and Keith Yeske of Los Alamos. He is also survived by his five loving grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brothers, J. Benard Jones of Seymour, TX, H.T. Jones of West Columbia, TX; and sister, Birla M. Clynch of Waco, TX. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Urban Park in Los Alamos, NM. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
