Atencio -- Frank Atencio, 76, born on October 4, 1922, passed away January 19, 1999 at a local hospital. He was a resident of Bernalillo, NM for 31 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Josephine Atencio; his two daughters, Marcella Lopez and husband, Bob of Sandia Park, NM and Hazel Herrera and husband, Bruno of Cuba, NM; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and Lillie Gallegos of Cuba, NM, whom he loved as a daughter. He is also survived by his three sisters, Martha Gutierrez of Albuquerque, Cecilia Aragon and husband, Robert of Durango, CO and Erlinda Montoya and husband, Daniel of Cuba, NM; and his aunt, Louisa Salazar of Albuquerque. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Bernalillo. He was a disabled veteran of World War II, a member of the DAV West Mesa Chapter V in Rio Rancho, and Knights of Columbus, Chapter 7633 in Bernalillo. He was a caring and hard working man who would have given the shirt of his back to anyone in need. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning, 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Vista Verde Memorial Park in Rio Rancho. Pallbearers will be Leandro Padilla, David Serbin, Eustaquio Salas, Jay Houston, Fred White and Felimon DeHerrera. Services entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, Gary F. Santillanes, CFSP.
