Gabaldon -- Mr. Albert"Big Al of the Bird of Paradise" Gabaldon 78, and a life long Albuquerque resident, business owner and World War II veteran passed away on Saturday, July 24, 1999, surrounded by his family and friends after a heroic battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carmen Gabaldon. Mr. Gabaldon is survived by two sisters, Lala King and Loretta Aragon. He is also survived by one daughter Bea Ann Garcia and husband, Lawrence; three sons, Albert Jr., and wife, Pam, Eddie and wife, Berlinda, and youngest child, Rick and Wife, Lori. Albert has nine grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and one great-grandson. He will be loved and missed by numerous other relatives and friends throughout the United States. Viewing and visitation will be held Tuesday from noon to 5:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle, NE. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Ghost Catholic Church also on Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Ghost Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Vigil celebrant. His grandchildren, Michael, Charles, Todd, Brian and Keith Gabaldon and Mark Martinez will service as casket bearers. Paul and Chris Martinez and Justin Gabaldon, also his grandchildren, will serve as honorary casket bearers. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd, NE are in charge of arrangements.
