Mayer -- Ilse Y. Mayer, 83, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Friday, July 16, 1999. She was born on December 13, 1915 in Leipzig, Germany. Her family owned Joske's Department Store which was taken over by the Nazi's. She is preceded in death by her husband. She and her family were survivors of the holocaust. She retired from U.N.M. Upon her retirement she was an outstanding member of the Albuquerque Chapter of Hadassah and will be missed by all the members who knew her. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Albuquerque Chapter of Hadassah or B'nai Israel. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 19, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE with Rabbi Celnik and Cantor Josh Peralman officiating. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE in charge of arrangements.
