Canfield -- Chester Ray Canfield, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died Monday, March 29, at the VA Medical Center after a long illness. He was the son of Orval and Jewel Canfield of Kellyville, Oklahoma. For his service in the Pacific in World War II he received the Purple Heart. He retired in 1976 from the proprietorship of Big Elk Realty in Colorado. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, whom he married in 1955; siblings, Anna Mae Simpson, Wilfred Canfield, Faye Deffenbaugh, Pauline White, Lou Ella Brewer and Harold Canfield; daughters, Carolyn Woods of Mill Creek, WA, Raydean Canfield of Fort Collins, CO, Glendyne Wergland of Dalton, MA and Linda Canfield of Federal Heights, CO; grandchildren, Brenda Stingily, Brent Woods, Brian Eales, Jennifer Wergland, Karyn Wergland, Steven White, Cari Scott and Sean White; numerous nieces and nephews; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming NE. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE 87110, or to Share Your Care, Inc., 5301 Ponderosa NE, Albuquerque 87110. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
