Corley -- 1921-1999 Gene E. Corley, 77, a resident of Belen, passed away Friday, April 19, 1999. Mr. Corley was born near Gran Quivira, New Mexico, the third of ten children, to Daniel N. and Edna Corley. While he was still a child, the family moved to Belen. He enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps., and was assigned to the South Pacific Theatre in early 1942. Gene was an early pioneer of"affordable housing" and was a well known Albuquerque home builder since 1949. He also served as a past president of the New Mexico Home Builders Association. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon and Paul L. Corley; and his sister, Louise Corley. Gene is survived by his daughter, Alyce Kaye Mutter; his sons, Glenn Corley and wife, Janie, Wayne Corley and wife, Vera; his grandchildren, Joyce, Amara, Anthony, Chris, Scott, and Lance; three great-grandchildren; and his companion, Juanita Manning; his brothers, Rev. Ron and Rev. Don Corley, and Dee N. Corley; his sisters, Doris Matthews, Winona Strech, and Eveylyn Ritchie. His friends are too many to count. He always had a huge amount of fun and continued working until he was struck with cancer in August of 1998. His absence will be frequently and deeply felt by many. Visitation for Mr. Corley will be held on Thursday, April 22, 1999, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held on Friday morning, April 23, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Belen with his brother, Rev. Don Corley officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., also on Friday at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale SE, in Albuquerque. Pallbearers will be Chris Corley, Scott Corley, Anthony Mutter, Mike Summers, Joe Paul Randle, and Kerry Blackburn. Honorary pallbearers are David O'Dell, Jerry Hattox, and Paul Costanza. For those who wish, the family requests that donations be made to the New Mexico Boys Ranch in Gene's memory at P.O. Box 5000, Boys Ranch, NM 87002.
