Wasung -- Stanley M. Wasung, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, and a former resident of Detroit, MI, left the world at peace with God and his loved ones, Wednesday, April 14, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Cook Wasung; two daughters, Mary Ellen Gray of Pembrooke Pines, FL and Julie Ann Bauman and husband, William of Deerborn, MI; and son, Joseph Paul Wasung and wife, Barbara of Greeley, CO; step-daughters, Jeanette Smith and Mary Cook, both of Albuquerque; step-son, Don Cook and wife, Kathy of Memphis, TN; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Cass Wasung, Victor Wasung and Thaddeus Wasung; and sister, Helen Franke. Mr. Wasung was born in Hamtramck, MI. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the European Theater. Mr. Wasung was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. He was also a life member of the International Painters Brotherhood; a member of the AFLCIO, Amvets and BPOE #461. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 6:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Father Bob Chabot, Celebrant. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Wasung, Don Cook, Jordan Smith, Dan Hewes, Dr. Oswaldo Pereira and Phil Beatty. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Sunday, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. .DMP
