Warnock -- George Forrester Warnock, 67, passed away on April 7, 199 of natural causes. George was born January 16, 1932 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Henderson Bennett Warnock and Helen (Schwartz) Warnock. George grew up in Arizona, loved the outdoors, and played football and other sports for Winslow City High School in Arizona, and the University of Colorado at Boulder. He interrupted his university studies to serve as a Marine in the Korean War. He later completed his university and graduate studies in Geology and Mining Engineering at the University of Arizona. George spent much of his early professional geology career working as a consulting geologist at international locations with the W.R. Grace Company of New York. His desire to start his own company and to return to the western United States led him to settle in New Mexico with his family and pursue his own business in the early 1970s, which evolved into Todilto Exploration and Development Corporation based out of Albuquerque. George's lifetime passions were mineralogy, hunting and related outdoor activities. His dream was to be able to retire to the beautiful mountainside site of his current home in Creede, CO with which he had become familiar during his early geology days. His last years were spent happily at Creede with his wife, Guerrie. George is survived by his wife, Guerrie Brown Robertson Warnock of Creede; and his sister, Myrtise Ballard of Sun City West, AZ. George was the father of four children and two step-children, George Forrester Warnock III of Albuquerque, Pamela Helen Warnock of Paris, France, Lloyd Vance Warnock of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert Wade Warnock of Rio Rancho, Lisa Robertson Butt of Appleton, WI, and Scott Robertson of Baton Rouge, LA; as well as seven grandchildren. At George's request, he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered upon Mammouth Mountain near Creede. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Creede Underground Mining Museum.
