Herbert C. Stacher, 97, a former resident of McKinley County from 1910-1922, and Gallup, NM from 1922-1989 when he became a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 1999, following complications from pneumonia at Manor Care Health Services, where he received care since February, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Elva L. Stacher of Albuquerque; daughters, Mrs. Carol Hail of Mountainair, NM, and Mrs. Vilma Ohlen and husband, Henry of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Mrs. Marlene Boyle and husband, Mike of Denver, CO, and Rev. Charles B. Hail and wife, Nancy of Capitan, NM; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Melanie and Anna Hail. Mr. Stacher was a member of First United Methodist Church in Gallup, NM, Lebanon Lodge #22, Navajo Chapter #18, Zuni Council #3, Ballut Abyad Shrine, Elks Lodge #1440, Sons of the American Revolution, and Veterans of World War I.
