Sedillo -- Clara C. Sedillo Born: Dec. 31, 1934 Departed: Dec. 29, 1998After Thank You, From her loving son. Although, my mother was not in the military, she gave her only son to the service of our nation. When I was 17 years old my mother signed parental consent so that I could join the United States Navy. As President John F. Kennedy once said,"What is the Greatest gift one can give to their country, than to be able to say, I served in the United States Navy." My Mom supported me all the way and she was very proud. "My greatest joy was to see my Mom happy and for her to be proud of me; we had our differences, but in the end we always came through for each other." She was a fighter to the very end. For Thanksgiving she traveled more than 1,800 miles and visited everyone. I had her up at 5:30 a.m. and we wouldn't get back to the Hotel till 10:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m. She wouldn't stop until we got to see everyone. She even made it to Ship's Christmas party on December 17, 1998. Then on December 22, 1998 she entered the hospital for the last time. When the doctor told her on Christmas day that she would be going home the next day, she couldn't wait. I'd push her to the limit, but she never quit. On Sunday, December 27, 1998 I was planning a very special birthday party for my Mom, However, it was not meant to be. Because after standing duty on December 28, 1998 and I got relieved the next morning on December 29, 1998; I came home to find my Mom had left this world. I tried to revive her and called 911."THIS CAN'T BE!" I said to myself, but it was. This was suppose to be a special Birthday party and she only needed 48 hours to see her 64th Birthday. So Mom....HAPPY BIRTHDAY. And here is your Birthday card Mom, that you never did open; and so I will read it out to you and give it to you now Mom. She's resting now. As scriptures said, Honor Thy Mother and Father. When was the last time you hugged your parents and said I Love You? Today would be a great day to make amends. Last, she loved her new home in San Diego, and the doors were always open. She was happy to have visitors there. I want to thank each and everyone of you who are here and those that could not be here from the bottom of my heart for your support, thoughts and prayers during this time. All family and friends are welcome to come to 5624 Isleta Blvd. SW, Tuesday, January 5, 1999 until 6:0 p.m. for refreshments. This is a celebration of my Mom's life and that is the way my Mom would have wanted it to be. SHE WAS TIRED AND NOW SHE HAS GONE HOME.
