Baca -- Gabriel M. Baca, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 18, 2000. Gabriel proudly served his country in WWII. He retired from Sandia National Labs in 1973. Gabriel was a longtime resident of Los Lunas and a member of San Clemente Catholic Church since 1935. He was also a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9676. Gabriel spent much of his retirement years working on his farm in Los Lunas. He loved being with his family and had a great love for life. He was always first to lend a hand and quick to tell one of his stories. In his 87 years, he touched so many lives and lived his life in such a way that we can all learn from his loving example. The world is a better place because of him. Gabriel was preceded in death by his parents, Liberato and Vivanianita Baca; three brothers, Felix, Ted and George Baca; two sisters, Frances and Emila Baca. He is survived by the love of his life of 54 years, his wife, Frances Baca; his two sons, Walter Baca and his wife, Theresa of Los Lunas and Gilbert Baca also of Los Lunas; grandchildren, Bryan and Sandy of Ruidoso, Claire and Paul Ciermans of Los Lunas, Jason and Christy Baca of Los Lunas, and Claudine Baca of Los Lunas. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 20, 2000 at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at San Clemente Catholic Church.
