Blaine -- E. Joyce Blaine, PGM, went to meet her Lord on September 9, 2000. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 24, 1920, to Father Howard Close Carmody and Colette Naomi LeSeur Butler. During WWII she first worked for Boeing Aircraft, but due to the work she was doing, it damaged her eyes. She then went to work for the phone company in the Alaskan Territory. When the war was over, she married Robert L. Blaine in Santa Fe, NM in January 1946. She and her family finally settled in Albuquerque where she was able to pursue her passion of art not only in her work but also for her own pleasure. Joyce was active with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Enchanted Assembly #56 in the early 1960's. She was also very active in Order of Eastern Star, Desert Rose Chapter #70 and served as Worthy Grand Matron for the state of New Mexico in 1983-84. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Blaine and and her son, Robert L. Blaine 2nd. She is survived by her daughters, Jana L. Blaine-Bailey of Tempe, AZ and Lynda L. Blaine-Duke of El Paso, TX; and granddaughter, Joyce R. Cambier of Scottsdale, AZ and two great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery next to her beloved husband of 39 years. She was also a member of St. John's United Methodist Church of Albuquerque. Memorial Service will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday from the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors. Interment will follow in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle NE, in charge of arrangements.
