Baker -- Esther Kohnken Baker, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away April 30, 2000. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Carlton G. Baker. She is survived by children, Barry C. Baker, Bonnie B. Rockman and husband, Glenn, all of Albuquerque and William D. Baker and his wife, Linda Blocki Baker and grandson, Garrett Carlton Blocki Baker of Arlington Hts, IL; brother, Herman Kohnken of Florida; sisters, Irene Kilpatrick of North Carolina, Pearl Mitchell of Conroe, Texas, and Elaine Nevada of Rochester, New York. Before retiring she worked at Kirtland Air Force Base for 28 years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Albuquerque Rose Society and the New Mexico Race Walkers Club. She won"Queen of the Show" awards numerous years at the New Mexico State Fair and held the designation of"Consulting Rosarian". She achieved Avon's President Club awards for many years. Her kindness, generosity and unending energy will be missed by all who knew her. She will always be remembered by her family as their queen of the show. Private Interment will precede a Memorial Service for friends and family at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. on May 2nd, located at 210 Alvarado SE, 1 block South of Central and approximately 2 blocks East of San Mateo. For those who wish, memorials may be donated to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 210 Alvarado Dr. SE, 87108, or to the Albuquerque Rose Society, 9200 Flushing Meadows Dr. NE, 87111.
