Williams -- Ernest H. Williams, age 65, of Las Cruces, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000. He was born October 2, 1934 in Ardmore, OK to Ernest Howell and Marth Lou Williams. He attended the University of Oklahoma for his undergraduate and law degrees. Mr. Williams started his law practice in Las Cruces in 1958 and held several area positions which included City Judge, District Attorney from 1963 to 1975 and was also a District Judge for the area. Mr. Williams was still a practicing attorney at the time of his death. He was also on governors Bruce King and Tony Anaya's Organized Crime Committee. Survivors include his wife, Bertha L. Williams of the family home; daughters, Beth Ann McBride and husband, Bob of Albuquerque, Diane Morrow and husband, Harold of Deming, Suzanne Kammann and husband, Dan of Minneapolis, MN; step-children, Diana Billings and husband, Don, Lahri K. Singh, all of Las Cruces, John Singh and wife, Connie of Santa Fe; brother, Herbert Williams of Virginia; sister, Natalie Andrews and husband, Warner of Littleton, CO; grandchildren, Rori McBride of Albuquerque, Ashlee and Dustin Morrow of Las Cruces, Jordan Morrow of Deming, Christopher Tirre, Lawrence Vigil, Gabriel Rios, all of Las Cruces, Amand Rios of Albuquerque, and Jonathon Singh of Santa Fe. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2000, 4:00 p.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. A private committal of cremains will be held at a later date.
