Valdez -- Christal M. Valdez, 18, a resident of Albuquerque, died in a car accident in Arizona with her cousin, Lisa Reyes, Tuesday, May 30, 2000. She is survived by her mother, Genevieve Valdez; brother, Michael Valdez; half-sister, Andrea Valdez; half-brother, Jeremy Valdez; grandfather; Maclovio Mac Olivas; grandparents, Ercie and Floyd Valdez; seven uncles; eight aunts; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Valdez in 1990; and grandmother, Mary Elva Olivas in 1999. Christal graduated from Del Norte High School this year. Christal's love was being with children and had planned on entering college to earn a degree in social work. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. Christal loved her Spanish culture and traditions and immersed herself with it. She was always giving of herself and had recently begun thinking of her future. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and her family takes comfort in knowing that she is in His arms. Services will be held Saturday, June 3, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at First Family Church, 4701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Dr. Larry Allen, Pastor of New Life Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Cuba, NM. Pallbearers will be Zachary Olivas, Christopher Olivas, Joshua Flores, Jonathan Olivas, Andrew Valdez, and Johnathan Valdez. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Olivas, James Olivas, Timo Ramirez, and Daniel Valdez. French Mortuary, 105000 Lomas Blvd. NE.
