Gerding -- Mildred"Millie" L. Gerding, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1935, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000. She is survived by her daughter, Millie White McMahon and husband, John T. McMahon; grandchildren, Jack and Mollie McMahon. Her second family includes, Bob and Harriet Gerding: grandchildren, Mike, Patrick, Laura and Flint Morris; great-grandchildren, J. T. and Melanie Morris; Dick and Eileen Gerding, Dr. David Gerding, and Christine Gerding; Clarilou (deceased) and Jim Bryce; grandchildren, Deena, Dan, Doug, and Don Bryce. She is also survived by her brother, Wilford Cheedle of Grand Junction, CO; niece, Marie Reed of Grand Junction, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Fred A. White, whom she married on December 3, 1940; and her second husband of eight years, Lou Gerding, whom she married on August 15, 1971. Mrs. Gerding moved to Albuquerque from Colorado as a nurse to work for Presbyterian Hospital. She had been active in many community organizations; she was president of Junior League of Albuquerque in 1944, active in setting up Cerebral Palsy Day School, and the June Music Festival. She was a board member and active in Community Concerts and the Albuquerque Little Theatre, where she also participated in some productions. She was a leader in Brownie and Girl Scout Troops, where she also served as a board member. Mrs. Gerding taught Red Cross Nurses Aid and Home Nursing Courses. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 16th, 10:00 a.m., at First United Methodist Church, 4th and Lead SW, with Rev. Clyde Stanfield officiating.
