Tracy -- Stuart Bloom Tracy, 90, of Las Cruces, passed away on May 9, 2000. Mr. Tracy moved to Las Cruces in the early 1940's. He taught at area schools and retired from PSL at NMSU in the 1970's. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Murphy Tracy of 50 years in 1982. He later married Elizabeth Quinton of Phoenix, AZ. He is survived by his sons, David A. Tracy of Kirkland, WA, William C. Quinton, Robert W. Quinton and James. R. Quinton, all of Phoenix, AZ, and Charles E. Quinton of Laramie, WY. Mr. Tracy graduated from Central University in Edmond, OK, where he endowed a scholarship fund for teachers. Mr. Tracy was a Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Las Cruces, a milestone of his year was the establishment of the Key Club at Las Cruces High School. He was also a founder of the United Way of Dona Ana County in 1957. Mr. Tracy was a charter member of Jornada Masonic Lodge #70, AF&AM. He served the Grand Lodge of New Mexico in various offices before serving as Grand Master in 1974. Mr. Tracy was 33 degree Scottish Rite Mason and was instrumental in establishing the Scottish Rite Temple in Las Cruces. He was a member of Paradise Valley-Silver Trowel 329 Masonic Lodge AF&AM in Phoenix, AZ. He was a Past Patron of Ruth #8, Order of the Eastern Star in Deming, NM, and Past Patron of Hatch 352, OES in Hatch, NM. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Getz Funeral Home. The Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2000, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, with Dr. Larry Hall officiating. Graveside services will be at the Masonic Cemetery with the Mason's officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Jornada Masonic Lodge #70, AF&AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jornada Masonic Foundation, P.O. Box 306, Mesilla, NM 88046.
