Mccabe -- James H. McCabe, age 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 40 years, died on Wednesday, March 29, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia A. McCabe of Albuquerque; three sons, Tim McCabe and wife, Sandy of Phoenix, AZ, Dennis McCabe and wife, Susie of Waukesha, WI, and Terry McCabe and wife, Sherry of Albuquerque; seven grandchildren: Brandon, Cody, Garret, Lindsey, Schuyler, Colton and Micah McCabe; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jim was born March 14, 1922 in Heartland, NY, the son of Hazel McDonald and Sylvester McCabe. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Leonard (Bud) McCabe. Jim attended the University of Alabama for two years and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, being stationed in Africa, Italy and France. After the war he began working for the New York Telephone Company then transferred from Lockport, NY to Mountain Bell in Albuquerque in 1959, to move to a drier climate for family health reasons. Jim retired from the telephone company in 1982 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His grandchildren meant a lot to him. He was known to be a jokester to those around him and he will be dearly missed. A Funeral with a Catholic scripture service will be held on Friday, March 31, 2000, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary - Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his three sons and three grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining four grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1330 San Pedro NE, Suite 205, 87110. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
