Smith -- Kenneth D. Smith, 55 years old, died January 6, 2000. Born August 27, 1944 in Stephensville, TX to A. L. and Imogene Smith. He moved to Albuquerque in 1953 with his parents. He married Pat on September 17, 1962. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Powers Construction. As a teenager he drove a produce truck & throughout his life worked for his parents in the family businesses: Smith's Produce and Smith's Trees. He helped in the building of Albuquerque Raceway and raced cars there in several divisions for many years. Later he opened his own Smith's Produce & Smith's Trees with his wife Pat. After the death of his father he carried on the family ranch and with his mother continued running Duke City Raceway. Kenneth is survived by his mother, Imogene; wife of 37 years, Pat; six children, Donna Jones and husband, Duane of Aztec, NM, Kenny Smith and wife, Rose of Los Lunas, NM, Brenda Prochnow and husband, Joe of Ottawa, KS, Barbara Larkin and husband, Joe Jr. of Albuquerque, Patsy Moore and husband, Steve of Ottawa, KS, and Angela Smith of the family home; 13 grandchildren, Dean, Deanne, Daniel, Matt, Rosanna, Joseph, Josh, Barbara, Mandy, Jenny, Michael, Mitchell and Stephanie. He is also survived by two sisters, Shirley Gallamore and Darlene Gatewood. He was preceded in death by his father, A.L Smith. Visitation will be Sunday January 9th, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Services will be held, Monday, 11:00 a.m., at Rio Grande Baptist Church, 2121 Gun Club SW.
