Bauhs -- Jeff A. Bauhs died unexpectedly of meningitis on January 6, 2002 at Davies Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. Jeff was born in Albuquerque on June 26, 1968 and lived in the East Mountain Area most of his life where he attended San Antonito Elementary School and the Moriarty schools through high school where he graduated in 1986. He was active in FFA and the Honor Society at Moriarty. Jeff attended New Mexico State University as a Crimson Scholar for two years and then transferred to the University of Nevada at Las Vegas to complete his undergraduate work, graduating in 1991 with a degree in mechanical engineering. While in college, he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and worked at Nellis AFB. Jeff completed his master's degree in Human Factors Engineering at NMSU in 1994 while working at White Sands MR. He then went to work for IBM in San Jose, CA. While there he was active in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. Jeff was employed by Epicentric Corp. in San Francisco as a Senior User Experience Engineer at the time of his death. Jeff is survived by his parents, Ken and Vi Bauhs; his sister, Ellen Gerwin and husband, Greg all of Albuquerque; many friends in California; his aunt, Shirley Steger of Kaukauna, WI, aunt, Verone (Warren) Wieseler, uncle, John (Hildegard) Bauhs, aunt, Leola Eastman and uncle, Leroy (Ruth) Jandrey all of Appleton, WI, uncle the Rev. Cyril (Audrey) Jandrey of Stoughton, WI, uncle, Elton (Eleanor) Jandrey of Spring, TX, aunts, Adelheid Bauhs of Waverly, Iowa and Bernadine Bauhs of Carson City, NV; and many cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Timothy's Lutheran Church (corner of Copper and Jefferson) in Albuquerque at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2002. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in Albuquerque or the city of choosing.
