Rowe -- Clarence Mondell Rowe, 76, a former resident of Placitas, died Friday, January 18, 2002, at his home in Ukiah, California. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Myrtle Florence Rowe; daughter, Linda Kathlene Jones; sons, Steven Clarence Rowe and David Mondell Rowe; sister, Marna McWort; brothers, Hadley Rowe and Glen Rowe; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessie, Johnathan, Helen and Mike; and one great-grandchild. He was retired from the Department of Defense DASA and was instrumental with the Tramway in Albuquerque. During his service in the U.S. Navy, he served aboard the USS Colorado for three years during WWII. He received an accommodation from Governor David Cargo of NM for his service to the U.S. Government. Clarence was a professional race horseman and was a 20-year member of the Professional Race Horseman, a New Mexico Horsemanťs Association. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason. He will be remembered for his hobby of raising racehorses, and his unsurpassed ability to hunt and fish. Graveside services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, with Rev. Fred Dorisse officiating. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
