Luck -- Sandra (Sandy) Bodell, 56, died peacefully Thursday, June 6, 2002. She is survived by her children, David Lawrence Luck, Jason Paul Luck, Sabrina Danielle Luck and her husband Levi Wooley all of Albuquerque; Kathryn Dawn Erin Luck and her daughter, Aliyah Dickson of Chandler, AZ; Jennifer Rebecca Luck of Austin, TX; granddaughter, Valerie Marie Scholten of Albuquerque; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Bodell of Orlando, FL. Sandy was born in Greensburg, PA, attained her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University, a MA at Berkley, and another MA from UNM. Not only was she a devoted, unswerving mother to her own children and grandmother to her grand daughters, but she also dedicated her life to childhood education, care, and fostering. Her career began first as a preschool teacher and later director for the Little Forest Play School in Los Alamos. Upon moving to Albuquerque, she taught and directed at St. Mark's in the Valley Day School and designed and administered the Lovelace Hospital Childcare Center. Her life-long advocacy for children culminated as an instructor in early childhood education at TVI where she taught and mentored present and future teachers. Sandy was a foster parent, adoptive parent and served on the boards of both the New Mexico State Foster Parents' Assoc. and the NMS Adoptive Parents' Association. Her life was selflessly devoted to her family and to helping parents and children throughout her career. All who knew Sandy will continue to be influenced by her steadfast loyalty to her children, her profession, and her friends as well as her lightning-speed sense of humor, her indomitable spirit and her joie de vivre. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the physicians, nurses and staff at Lovelace who cared for Sandy. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2002, 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd NE.
