Burkett -- Dennis L. Burkett, 76, was called home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brownie; his son, Brent and wife, Pamela of Albuquerque; his grandson, Dennis and wife, Kendri of Olathe, KS; and granddaughter, Mary Beth and husband, Jarrod Cline of Albuquerque; brothers, Grover Burkett of Murray, KY and Robert Burkett of Fulgham, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Luceil Burkett; and sisters, Cassie Puckett and JoAnn Hutson. He graduated from Fulgham High School and was immediately conscripted in the US Army where he served with the 104th Infantry Timberwolves¯ in the European Theater during WWII. Dennis was in the Battle of the Bulge and received a purple heart for war injuries. On return to civilian life he was employed by Union Carbide at the Paducah Kentucky Gaseous Diffusion Plant and actively attended and served in the Salem Methodist Church before retiring to Florida and then moving to Albuquerque to be near his only child. He was a loyal employee of Sam's Club for over ten years. He will be remembered for his friendliness and loving-kindness. Dennis was a devoted husband and father instilling qualities of honesty, integrity and concern for his fellow man. His stature in Heaven is certain but he will be sorely missed by his friends and loved ones on earth. Friends may visit French Mortuary ¯ Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW (3 blocks North of Paseo Del Norte) on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Clinton, Kentucky. Interment will follow at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association ¯ NM Affiliate, P.O.
