Moats -- Carla"Jeannie" Moats, 52, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Monday, June 17, 2002 at home after a one year fight with pancreatic cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the chapel. Burial at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to"Truth on Tape," P.O. Box 10514, KCMO 64188, or Berachah Church Tapes and Publications, 5139 West Alabama, Houston, TX 77027. Jeannie was born September 24, 1949 in Topeka, KS. She was raised in Kansas City, KS and Overland Park and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1967. She attended Kansas State University and graduated from the University of Kansas in 1971 with a degree in elementary education. She taught kindergarten at Hudson Elementary School in Topeka, KS for three years before marrying Greg Moats and moving to Camp Pendleton, CA. After discharge from the Marine Corps, Greg and Jeannie returned to Overland Park and joined the family business presenting Dale Carnegie Training. Jeannie worked as the Vice President and bookkeeper until they sold the business in 2001. Jeannie was the consummate volunteer/helper. While raising two children, she was extremely involved with PTA, Scouts, Sports Teams, Booster Clubs, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth Life, Mom's In Touch, just to name a few. In addition to these activities, she found time to be a committed member of various bible study groups, PEO and the Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumnae Association where she served in numerous positions, including co-chairing the 1997, Kappa Homes Tour. Jeannie was preceded in death by parents, Jim and Noma Wilcoxon. She is survived by her husband, Greg of the home; son, Travis and his wife, Kara of Denver, CO; daughter, Loralee Collum and her husband, Jon of Pittsburg, KS; her stepmother, Donna Willcoxon of Albuquerque, NM; her father-in-law, John Moats of Overland Park, KS; her sisters, Jan Mast and husband, Ken of KCMO, Debbie Weigel and husband, Bill of Overland Park, KS, Amy Moslander and husband, Jim of Raytown, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her PEO, Kappa,"Gritch n Stitch", bible study, Grapevine and countless other friends for their loving support over the past trying year. Jeannie was a committed believer and student of the Word of God, in addition to being a wonderful teacher. She taught kindergarten Sunday School at Beth Haven Church for ten years, but most importantly she taught us GRACE. Arrangements by Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa, KS, 913-888-6611.
