Greene -- James M. (Jim) Greene passed away peacefully Monday June 17, 2002. He was 72 years young. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and loved a good joke. He managed to keep his sense of humor to the end. He was born April 4, 1930 to Charles Ralph and Letha C. Greene at Camden on Gauley, Beckly WV, he grew up in Middle River, MD. Both parents preceded him in death. Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Juanita Gayle; daughter, Sharon Coffin and her children, Susan and Gary; daughter, Karen Osment, her husband William (Ozzie), and their son, Jeffrey; daughter, Pamela Storey, her husband, Woody, and their daughters, Dana Nagle, and Denille and Lenell Storey. He is also survived by his precious pet, Bitsy. Jim joined the United States Air Force in 1949 serving during the Korean War. He met his wife Gayle while stationed at Kirtland AFB and they married in 1955. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service to his country in 1969. After his retirement from the military, Jim worked for several years as a local bartender retiring again in 1995. His love of flying was his real passion. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., on Wednesday, June 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Services will be held at French Mortuary on Thursday, June 20, at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following immediately after the service at Messiah Lutheran Church, 11515 Lomas Blvd. Private interment will take place Monday, June 24, at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Jim's family would like to extend special thanks to all of his caregivers that went above and beyond the call of duty to make him comfortable during his final weeks. Their love touched us in ways to numerous to list. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Dad we love you and we will miss you. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
