Duran -- In your sleep quietly today, The Lord and your son, Dominic came to take you home.Ernest Anthony Duran, Sr., 51, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, July 4, 2002."Tony" was born in Vaughn, NM on November 14, 1950. He was preceded in death by his son, Dominic Elizah Duran and his two brothers, Benny and Domingo"Larry" Duran. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barbara Duran; sons, Ernest Anthony Duran, Jr., Gabriel Paul Duran and Nicholas Jordan Duran; his daughters, Elizabeth Marie Duran, Michele Lee Duran and Crystal Rose Duran; and his grandchildren, Jonathan, Ariana, Antoinette, Jaden, Elijah, Sierra, and Baby Dominic. He is also survived by his father, Hilario Duran; mother, Dora Duran, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Flora Arvan of Arizona; two sisters, Helen Chavez and Gloria Whorlin; and many other relatives and friends. Tony was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a proud Vietnam veteran who lived his life with pride and dignity. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002 followed at 7:00 p.m. by a Prayer Service in Chapel of Sandia, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2002 in Chapel of Sandia followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Bryant, Chris Chavez, Ernest Anthony Duran, Jr., Nicolas Duran, Gabriel Duran, and Arminio Otero. Arrangements by Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, 821-0010.
