Marron -- Joyce L. Marron, 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Thursday, August 8, 2002. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Lyman and husband, Thomas of Carlsbad, CA, Denise Marron-Taylor and Lisa Marron; grandson, Randy Martinez; granddaughter, Robin Martinez, all of Albuquerque; and brother, Richard Lawrence and wife, Irene of Hesperia, CA. Born in Long Beach, CA, she attended Long Beach City College and was one of the first graduates of Long Beach State College. Mrs. Marron moved to New Mexico and taught first grade at Wherry School. She became"Miss Joyce" on the nationally syndicated show"Romper Room" shown on KGGM Channel 13 in the late 50's and early 60's. Then she began a long tenure as"Mrs. Marron" on KNME"TV Kindergarten" which was the official kindergarten for APS in the 60"s. She was presented the prestigious McCall's"Golden Mike" Award, awarded for excellence in broadcasting. She received a congratulatory telegram from President Kennedy. After retiring from television she taught kindergarten at Matheson Park Elementary for several years and retired from APS. Cremation has taken place and Niche side services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
