Weiler -- H.J."Doc" Weiler, 86, a resident since 1960, died Friday, October 25, 2002. He is survived by his loving wife, Lena, of 58 years, daughters, Ann Rhoades and husband Russell of Albuquerque, Caroline Harrington and husband Gary of Las Cruces, NM, Cindy Stehle and husband Bill of Denver, Co, and Elaine Geoghegan and husband Joe of Scottsdale, AZ; son, Greg Weiler and wife Mona of Rowlette, TX, and daughter-in-law, Dane Weiler of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren; a sister, two brothers, many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his sons, Jim and Jeff Weiler, brother, James Weiler and parents, Nora and Jacob Weiler. He was born and raised in Burlington, Wisconsin, where he graduated from St. Mary's High School. He earned a bachelors degree at St. Mary's College in Winona, Minnesota and a Law Degree from Marquette University. During WWII he served as a US Navy Pilot. He returned to Burlington and practiced Law in Wisconsin for 16 years before venturing west to New Mexico in 1960. He was the Executive Director of Association of Commerce and Industry for 17 years. He continued as a Lobbyist until his death. He was actively involved in passing SEAT BELT LEGISLATION and numerous critical legislative issues and laws. He was Chairman of Safer New Mexico Now and New Mexico Highway Users Association, and a member of VFW Post #401 and American Legion Post 49. His love of New Mexico is evident in the legislation he supported to make New Mexico a better place to live for all New Mexicans. Prayer Service and Celebration of Life will be held at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Denis Simon reciting. The Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE with Father Rollins Lambert and Deacon Al McLane Celebrating. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tim Harrington, Capt. Michael Stehle, Paul Harrington, Garret Weiler, Brent Nail, and his dear friends, Bob Gold, Ernie Mills, and Tony Trujillo. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE Tuesday, October 29, 2002, 4:00 to 7:00p.m. The Weiler family would like to express many thanks to Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice and Dr. Donald Porter for their excellent care.
