Wright -- Essie Pearl Wright, 82, peacefully passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2002.¯ She is survived by her husband, Dr. William F. Wright, Sr. of Albuquerque; her son, Dr. William F. Wright, Jr. and wife, Phyllis of Hobbs, NM; her daughter, Teresa Clack and husband, Robert of Florissant, MO; and two grandchildren, John and Jenna Clack.¯ She was born on March 5, 1920 to Matthew and Martha Frost and was raised in St. Bernice, Indiana.¯Essie was the oldest of four children. She graduated from St. Bernice High School in 1938 and Terre Haute Business College in 1939.¯In the fall, Essie went to Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, where she met Bill, her husband-to-be.¯ She earned two bachelor degrees, a B.A. in English and a B.A. in Business, while serving initially as the college presidents secretary and later as Business Manager¯ and Treasurer for the college.¯ She also taught classes at Olivet.¯ Essie earned a master's degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She taught business classes at Monon High School in Indiana from 1949 to 1952. In August of 1952, Essie and Bill moved to Albuquerque to start careers with the Albuquerque Public School system.¯ Essie taught at Albuquerque High's Evening School and in the Business Department of the University of New Mexico.¯By 1960, Essie was committed to her role as a full-time mother and wife. After Bill Jr. and Teresa left for college, Essie devoted herself to the full-time service of others.¯She especially loved to care for the elderly who were confined to their homes. In 1972, Essie began volunteering at the Senior Meal Site at Harwood United Methodist Church.¯The site later moved to the Church of Christ located on North Fourth Street. This program was taken over by the North Valley Senior Citizens Center in 1980, where Essie continued to volunteer. In the fall of 2000, she was honored for a total of 28 years of service to the North Valley Community. For over 50 years, Essie has been a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene.¯She was also active in the WCTU.¯Essie was an avid reader and writer.¯The Bible and devotionals daily guided her life.¯Having always put God first in her life, Essie's family takes great comfort in the knowledge that she is at home with the Lord she loved and served. Services will be held Saturday, December 7th, 11:00 a.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Rev. William B. Nielson officiating.¯ Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.¯ Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Friday, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
