Burke -- Martha H. Burke, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, December 14, 2002. Martha was born August 17, 1919 in Coffeyville, KS. She is survived by her lovinghusband of 61 years, Dale Burke; her three children, Hank Burke, Dr. Dan Burke, and Barbara Franklin, all of Albuquerque; and six grandchildren, Marine Cpl. Adam Franklin, Nick Burke, Josephina Burke, Katie Burke, Ryan Burke, and Jillian Burke. Martha received her Bachelors Degree in Education at University of Kansas, where she was President of her Chi Omega Sorority Chapter. She taught elementary school for 30 years and retired from APS. Martha enjoyed raising and breeding long-hair dachshunds, and was very active in the New Mexico Dachshund Club, where she served as President and other offices throughout the years. She enjoyed traveling to dog shows and showing her dachshunds. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends and family. Services are private.
