Christy -- Mary Belle Christy, age 90, died peacefully on September 10, 2001 at the Montebello where she had been a resident for two years. She was born on January 3, 1911 to Oscar and Annie Wood in Mexia, TX. She attended school in Mart, TX and Business School in Dallas, TX. Mary retired from the Federal Government where she had worked for the Soil Conservation Service and The Bureau of Indian Affairs. Mary was a long-time resident of Albuquerque and was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. Christy, in 1986. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Sharon Neely and her husband, Larry of Albuquerque. In addition, she is survived by nieces, Annie Wells, Bessie Thomas, Tommie Wells, Dainah Chandler, Linda Eaton, Lavette Teer and Rosemary Johnson, all of Texas. She is also survived by nephews; Alfred McElroy and Bernie McElroy, also of Texas. There are three step-grandchildren, and five great step grandchildren in addition. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2001 at Sunset Memorial Park. The Reverend, Carl Soderburg will be officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, where Mary was a member for many years. Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd is in charge of her arrangements.
